Lunchtime Skin Care Therapies

The Skin Center, a leading skin treatment consultancy located in the heart of South Delhi is offering quick, unique and scientific skin care therapies to busy working women, helping them rejuvenate and revitalize their appearance. With over 8 years of expertise in the United Kingdom, Dr Sirisha Singh founded the Skin Center in 2008.

All women multitask today constantly juggling between work, home and recreation. Given the list of commitments that a woman must fulfil, personal grooming and looking after one self often takes a back seat. However, this need not be the case now.

The Skin Centre presents a list of five procedures that can be safely undertaken during a lunch break. One can step out of office for about 30-45 minutes, get the procedure done and get back to work. The procedure has no downtime (recovery time). The only difference one is sure to notice before and after lunch is glowing and rejuvenated skin.

Advanced Facials

Like all facials this involves cleansing, toning, moisturising and firming. Medical clinics often perform advance facials with products containing either glycolic acid, red wine extract, green tea extract or any such active ingredient for more enhanced benefits. The procedure starts with an assessment by the dermatologist and depending upon your skin concerns, the active ingredients may be decided. It is a short procedure lasting about 40 minutes which leaves one with glowing fresher looking skin.

Chemical Peeling

Chemical peels can be superficial or medium depth (deep peels are not usually recommended in Indian skin type). The superficial peels (usually glycolic peels and may be in combination with kojic acid or lactic acid) are very safe for use in the lunchtime. It is better done after your skin has been primed with a home based retinol or glycolic acid cream for 2 weeks prior to the peel. It is a short procedure, usually lasts less than 15 minutes but takes away the tan and gives a more uniform tone and texture to your skin. If done regularly, it also lays down fresh collagen in your skin and makes your skin tighter and firmer.

Microdermabrasion

This can be performed using either aluminium hydroxide crystals or by using a diamond tip. This takes away the dead cell layer of the skin. The skin looks fresher, younger and if performed regularly and used in combination with a good homecare, it can also reduce the skin blemishes. The procedure can take up to 20 minutes for the face.

PhotoFacials

This procedure uses visible light to heal the skin. It is common knowledge that ultraviolet light and infrared light damage skin but visible light posses healing properties on the skin. The procedure starts with a consultation with the dermatologist. The exact wavelength used and energy used depends upon your skin concerns. Controlled wavelengths of light of fixed energy are flashed through the skin. The light energy warms up the skin, reduces the freckles and other blemishes and can also reduce the dilated blood vessels on the skin which make the skin look red. The overall appearance is that of skin with a more uniform looking tone. This procedure can be performed once every 3-4 weeks.

Non Surgical Face Lift

This is done using a technology called Non-ablative Radio frequency, i.e., it uses radio waves at an energy level that does not damage the top layer of the skin. This is ideal for people in their 30’s or early 40’s who have started to develop loose sagging skin. The radio waves heat up your skin collagen and promote formation of new collagen which over a period of time leaves you with tighter looking skin. Unlike other procedures, this is more beneficial in the long-term. Visible results start to show after 6 weeks and the benefits continue to accrue over 6 months.

This list is not exhaustive. In experienced hands even botulinum toxin injections and fillers can qualify as lunchtime procedures. So friends, there is no excuse now for neglecting your skincare. All you need to do is to get to The Skin Centre in your lunchtime and meet all your skin needs.
