Taking care of your skin through each season is as important. It is more important than changing your wardrobe as per the weather. Trust me! Summer months come the scorching days and warm nights. After the winters and the mild spring, the dry hot winds of the summer season leave your skin a combination of sweat, tan, clogged pores due to oil secretion. Or your skin can go completely dry and chapped. Different skin types behave differently in different seasons.
Here are some handy skin and hair care tips for summer season.
Skin Care Tips for Summers
Apply Sunscreens Everyday: To save your skin from the UV rays of the sun it is essential to wear a sunscreen irrespective of the climate. Cloudy or sunny, hot or cold, applying a sunscreen before stepping out of the house should be your daily mantra. You can either
- Use a daily moisturiser with a sunscreen in it
- Or you could layer a sunscreen on top of your regular moisturiser if you know you’re going to be outside for a long period of time.
You can either opt for a gel based or a cream based moisturiser depending on your skin type. If you are out in the sun for quite a long time, then you can use a sunlite spray with SPF 30PA++ which can be used on top of your make up as well. You just need to spray it on your face from a distance and let the sunscreen protect you from getting tanned.
Hydrate and Moisturise Your Skin: Keeping the skin well hydrated is very important during the summer months. Increase in the intake of water. Drink 8-10 glasses of water in a day. It helps in keeping the skin moisturised, healthy and smooth. Apart from this use a face pack that will help in retaining the much needed moisture in your skin. You can either use a reviving oxy pack or a hydrating seaweed pack depending on your skin type. Apply the pack, leave it on for 15 – 20 minutes and then rinse it off. These packs can also be kept overnight or can be used as a moisturiser if used in a very little quantity during the night.
Exfoliate: Exfoliation should form an important part of your skin care regime during summer season. After the winters, many of us tend to be left with dry and flaky skin. In order to rejuvenate your skin and for removing the dead cells, exfoliation is very essential. Use can use peppermint exfol gel, apply it on your skin, scrub with dry finger tips for 2 – 3 minutes and then leave it on for 10 minutes and then rinse it off.
CTOM: Whatever skin type you have, cleansing, toning, oiling and moisturising should form an essential part of your skincare regime and should be performed twice daily. This relieves your skin from dirt, dead cells, clogged pores and helps keep it hydrated. Depending on your skin type you can either opt for a CTOM – Dry Skin Essentials Kit, Oily Skin Essentials Kit or/and Combination Skin Essentials Kit.
Home-made cleansing process: Mash a banana and beat it in 2-3 tablespoons of yoghurt. Brush it on the face and leave it on for 20 minutes till it dries. Then rinse it off. Use this once a week.
